Volunteering in the Museum

Volunteer with our Museum Front-of-House team

Volunteers will be helping in the Museum’s reception area and gift shop as well as the galleries within The Oxfordshire Museum. They will be part of a friendly group of staff and volunteers. The reception area is the first point of reference for our museum visitors where they receive a friendly and informative welcome. The gift shop offers visitors many different types of products as well as toys and exhibition-linked merchandise. The 10 galleries offer visitors an historic and interactive account of Oxfordshire’s history ranging from Jurassic footprints to innovative technologies. The Garden and Brew House galleries host a variety of changing exhibitions of objects from our collections as well as exhibitions touring from elsewhere.

The objective of the volunteering role is to provide a range of services to enhance the visitor experience in The Oxfordshire Museum reception and gift shop and to guide and provide information to the public during their visit.

Happy Front of House Volunteers

Volunteer with our Museum Cafe team

This role is to help in the Café within The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock as part of a group of Café staff and volunteers. The Café and Gardens are comfortable, friendly and beautiful spaces where our museum visitors and members of the community come to relax and enjoy a drink or something to eat. Volunteers will be providing excellent customer service for visitors to the café as well as promoting and encouraging sales in the café.

Crocuses in sunlight – February 2019

Volunteer with the Friends Committee.

If you had the time to help the Friends committee with their deliberations, that would be very much appreciated. We meet 5-6 times a year at the Museum. Organising trips and talks, making the Friends activities more well publicised, or treasureship and IT activities would all help.
