The Work and Life of Sculptor Michael Black

Speaker: Tiffany Black

In conjunction with our exhibition: Michael Black: Chisel, Wood, Stone

Michael carved the third series of Emperors’ Heads outside the Sheldonian theatre in Oxford in the 1970’s. In addition to this major commission, he carved many other works: for Oxford University, for the City of London and for gallery exhibitions. This talk complements the exhibition of the same title that opens in the Oxfordshire Museum in March and it will expand on the different approaches Michael undertook in his work plus the creative nature of the life he led.
