Early Medieval (7th century) pendant with Roman setting, Kingston, Lisle OXCMS : 2023.128

A complete early medieval gold pendant set with Roman mosaic glass. The brooch was found in the parish of Kingston Lisle by a metal detector user and reported to the Portable Antiquities Scheme (www.finds.org.uk).

Pendants like this one typically were components of high-status necklaces and often found in a female grave. As yet there is no evidence of Early Medieval activity in the area, therefore it is the first indicator of such activity and possibly a burial.
