2020 T626 Early Medieval brooch (5th century), Britwell Salome OXCMS : 2023.129

A near-complete cast silver-gilt equal-armed brooch of Early Medieval date. Equal-armed brooches developed on the Continent in the late 4th century, with a particular regional association with northern Germany. Local versions were probably being made in England by the fifth century, and a growing number have been found in England, particularly in the south-east, although this example was probably an import from northern Germany.
